MEET JORDIE

PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW

I grew up in the small town of Chappaqua, NY, about 30 miles north of New York City. After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin and studied Advertising. I had a great time in Madison and loved meeting people from all over the Midwest, cheering on the Badgers, and eating my share of bratwurst! During  college summers, my buddy and I painted houses and I fell in love with the life of an entrepreneur. I was hooked and addicted to being my own boss.

After graduating, I moved back home and my brother and I started a venture with Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente’s family to bring youth baseball players to Puerto Rico for weeklong training camps. It was a blast and we even saw a handful of campers make it to the pros. We later ran a similar camp for the New York Rangers to bring youth hockey players from the U.S. to Canada. We launched a variety of other businesses during the years before I started 7 Eagle Group in 2014.

Supporting Veterans has been my true calling and passion. I only wish I started this much earlier in my career. In 1997 I made the best decision of my life and married my close childhood friend, Ellen. We now live in the college town of Amherst, Massachusetts, with our two amazing kids, Malina age 19, Eli age 13, and two crazy dogs . When I’m not working, I love doing anything with my family…especially, hiking, biking, and traveling.

I’m an Air Force veteran that spent 15 years in the cyber defense operations career field. My most rewarding career accomplishment was deploying to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2016 as the sole J6 Communications Advisor for the Special Mission Wing (SMW) Special Operations Advisory Team. I have an AAS in Electronics Systems Technology, a B.A. in Organizational Management, and am currently enrolled in an MBA in Sports Management program. My passion in the military was serving and helping others, and 7 Eagle Group allows me to continue that legacy by helping connect transitioning service members with rewarding post-military careers. This is my dream job! I am from New Hampshire originally but have settled in Oklahoma with my wife Ashton and three kids, Jhett, Harper, and Addilyn. My hobbies and interests include camping, fishing, grilling, and sports… Particularly College Football. Go Pokes!!!

Ernest Smith retired after almost 28 years in the Air National Guard with 18 years on recruiting duty. Before that he was a crew chief on the venerable A-10 attack jet and an HVAC/R technician in Civil Engineering. He is a nationally recognized recruiter with a depth of knowledge gained through two decades of recruiting experience at every level advising people on recruiting from brand new enlistees all the way up to the Secretary of Defense. He was most recently a full desk technical recruiter with Pratt and Whitney before joining 7Eagle group.

I am a proud Airman with a 21-year career, now transitioning into retirement. Currently, I serve as a Veteran Success Coordinator for 7 Eagle Group through the SkillBridge program, and I’m excited for this opportunity. My career began as an aircraft welder and machinist, and over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various roles, including Aircraft Metals Technology Craftsman, Quality Assurance Inspector, Technical Training Instructor, and ultimately, First Sergeant.

After nearly 28 years of wearing the Army uniform (yes, since the 90s!), I’m wrapping up my active-duty career as a Warrant Officer at Fort Meade, Maryland. I’ve spent most of my time lurking in the shadows of the Intelligence Community, focusing on Counterintelligence—which basically means I try to out-sneak the sneaky people. I’m retiring at the end of the year, which is both exciting and mildly terrifying because I’m still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up.

Academically, I earned a BS in Intelligence Studies from the University of Arizona and I’m just a few classes away from finishing my Master’s in Homeland Security Management at American Military University. I’m starting to think I just really like homework.

On the home front, I’m part of a dual-military family. My wife and I are both retiring at the same time (which should make for an interesting first Monday morning at home). We have two amazing kids, two opinionated dogs, and not nearly enough coffee to manage it all.

In my spare time, I’m usually outside landscaping like I’m auditioning for a yard makeover show, volunteering, coaching, traveling, or just enjoying good food and better company. I also firmly believe that life’s too short to take too seriously—unless we’re talking about grilling or college football.
